The Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary (Panagia Evangelistria) is a large, modern church located on the main road through Emporio. The church is genuinely new – it was built in 1980.
The church was built on a rectangular plan. The characteristic bell tower with a clock, located in the south-western corner of the church, attracts attention. The church is crowned by a huge blue dome in the middle of the roof and six smaller ones on the sides.
There is a courtyard in front of the church, accessed by a wide staircase.
Below the stairs you will find a small park with benches and a small amphitheatre, as well as a playground for children.
