The Chapel of the Assumption of the Virgin is located on the Fira – Oia trail, on the southern slope of the inactive volcano Mavro Vouno, just before the last section of the trail from Fira to Oia.
Due to its location, it is a popular stopping point for walkers. The area around the church offers a breath-taking view of the entire Caldera. You can also watch the famous sunsets from here.
The church itself is a small single-nave white church with a peach-coloured front wall. It is surrounded by a walled courtyard, which also contains a small bell tower.
