Above the village of Kamari, not far from the Zoodochos Pigi cave and the church, there is a second cave not open to tourists called Zoodochos Pigi II.
The cave cannot be visited – the entrance is fenced with a net.
The large entrance, over 6 metres high, is located about 50 metres above Zoodochos Pigi It is the largest discovered cave on the whole island of Santorini. It consists of three chambers (halls) and two corridors.
The cave was used as an enclosure for animals, so the floor of its first chamber is covered with a layer of animal excrement and the entrance is restricted by a low stone wall.
The cave is home to several species of insects endemic to Greece.
